Products I've built and shipped — standalone, end-to-end.
A free, keyboard-driven photo and video culling app for Mac and Windows. Built for wedding and event photographers who need to cull 3,000+ photos in under 30 minutes — without ever touching the originals.
Problem: Existing cullers are either expensive (Photo Mechanic ~$150), subscription-locked (Aftershoot, Narrative), or heavyweight (Lightroom, Bridge). Photographers wanted a fast, free, keyboard-first alternative that doesn't risk their RAW files.
What I built: The full app — adaptive preview pipeline that sizes to the user's display, a 6-item decode-ahead cache for sub-50ms navigation, write-through SQLite assignments with WAL tuning, ffmpeg sprite-sheet timeline scrubbing for video, and a bounded in-memory undo ring. Originals are never moved or modified; only references and bucket choices are tracked.
Sub-50ms preview navigation. Cull 3,000 photos in 30 minutes with keyboard alone.
Solo developer. Owned PRD, architecture, performance, packaging, and distribution.
